John Debow charged with aggravated battery

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A family was on vacation to Daytona Beach when a passerby said something offensive to a man’s 12-year-old daughter, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.

The father was walking with his family near a Bubba Gump restaurant when John Debow , 33, said to the man's daughter, “Nice [expletive]," police said.

The father asked the man what he said, according to police.

Debow replied, “You heard me mother [expletive],” the report stated.

The father told police he pushed Debow, causing him to bump in to a kiosk.

Debow then pulled out a large knife in his right hand and lunged at the father in a stabbing motion, according to the report.

The father sustained a cut to his left forearm.

The father pushed Debow back and Debow accidentally stabbed himself, the report said.

Once Debow was taken to the hospital, he told officers that he could not remember when the incident happened or give a description of the man involved in the altercation.

He was charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm and disability.
