Two women confess to burying their father's dead body in Eustis, police say

Detectives receives tip body was buried on property in September

EUSTIS, Fla. – The Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that the two daughters of a man reported missing in July have confessed to burying their elderly father’s body.

The women Sarah and Susan Kort told police that they panicked when they discovered their father dead when they arrived at his home.

Melvin Kort, 94, was reported missing in July by a relative who lives out of state.

Investigators said the women told them that the Kort died of what appeared to be a stroke or heart attack four or five years ago.

Deputies received a tip that a body might be buried on the property at Parkcrest Drive  in September.

The remains were found at a home located at Parkcrest Drive in Eustis, 

The autopsy did not show any signs of blunt trauma, investigators said.

The cause of death is undetermined.

The case has been turned over to the State Attorney’s Office for consideration, the sheriff’s office said.
