ORLANDO, Fla. – The design competition to re-purpose the "round building" in downtown Orlando has ended.
The Nils M. Schweizer Fellows, a group of architecture enthusiasts, began a grass roots effort nearly five years ago to save the landmark downtown building.

The group sponsored a student competition to re-imagine the building's unique concrete "curtain wall" surrounding it's second floor.
The winner was announced at a packed fundraiser located in the building's lobby.
"Reflections of Orlando" was the judge's choice. The park sculpture was designed by two senior UCF students.
Jarrod Lopatka and Felix Chao designed the curving, geometric figure eight structure.
"We tried to keep it simple," said Lapatka. The pair worked on designs that had the best chance of being built, keeping cost in mind.
"Just the fact that this might be built is very exciting," said Lapatka.
The project includes a water feature and is intended to be built at the corner of Princeton Street and Alden Rd. near the Orlando Science Center.
Private donations are still needed for the project to be completed.
