Body found floating in St. Johns River identified as missing man

Volusia deputies investigate death

DeBARY, Fla. – Volusia County deputies have identified the body found floating in the St. Johns River on Friday as a missing man.

Deputies said a man fishing on the dock of a private marina near the Meadowlea on the River mobile home community on Leisure World Drive in DeBary when he spotted the body just after 2 p.m.

Divers were called to the scene to pull the body, which was determined to be 42-year-old Walter McKinnon, out of the water.

McKinnon, who went by his middle name Devon, was reported missing on Monday after his family hadn't seen him since Sunday night. 

Deputies continue to investigate McKinnon's death, but haven't said if it's suspicious.

No other details were immediately available.
