ORLANDO, Fla. – A shopper at a Baldwin Park grocery store tells police investigators he watched a man take video up the clothing of at least two girls in recorded interviews obtained by News 6.
Scott Wesley Irwin, 27, was arrested in February for the incidents, which were caught on surveillance cameras at the Publix store located at 1501 Meeting Place.
In a recorded interview with Orlando police, a shopper tells investigators he watched Irwin use his cellphone to shoot video around the legs of at least two girls.
"I questioned myself," he told police. '''Did I really see what I thought I saw?' I went and got my kids and came back to the area where he was at and witnessed him do it to another child."
The witness described what happened.
"He took the Publix basket, the handheld basket, and he would put a box of saltines or some sort of box in there to elevate his phone. He would turn his phone upside down with the camera pointing up, and then he'll walk over, and then hover around these victims that he was videotaping," he said.
The witness complained to management, who called Orlando police.
Irwin was arrested days later.
In his police interview, Irwin did not admit anything, nor did he deny anything.
"Why would this witness see you videotaping under and 8-year-old's skirt -- black skirt?" the detective asks Irwin in the recording.
"I don't know," he replied.
Irwin told the investigators he was struggling with issues that he was seeking one-on-one and group therapy for.
Irwin was charged with two counts of video voyeurism.
According to the Orange County Clerk of Courts, his trial is set for July.
