WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. – A woman seen on surveillance video taking a neighbor's dog has been arrested on grand theft charges, News 6 has learned.
Kitty Rivera, 38, was arrested in Seminole County on Saturday.
News 6 first showed you the surveillance video in December. In the video, it shows a van pulling up and the small pup leaves with the vehicle.
The dog's owner, Mandy Anglin saw the video and called police.
Rivera said that she was rescuing the dog from harsh living conditions.
"She didn't need to be saved. She you know she has a good home here. She, we love her. She's well taken care of. She didn't need to be saved," said Anglin.
For the past weeks, Anglin was left wondering if Rivera would be charged with a crime. Anglin hopes the arrest sends a message to anyone looking to take a dog out of someone else's yard.
"You just don't do that. You don't do that to families. You don't. I understand that I guess she works for a rescue and they do good things for animals. I get that, but that doesn't mean you can just take whoever's animal," said Anglin.
Anglin said that she was thankful News 6 started asking questions to authorities, and said News 6 helped her get results.
"You did actually, I really think a lot of people have come out and being more aware that this thing does happen a lot, and yes you guys rock definitely," said Anglin.
News 6 stopped by Rivera's house, but no one answered the door.
