Catching up with Orlando boxer Erickson 'The Hammer' Lubin

Jamie Seh interviews top Super-Welterweight challenger

ORLANDO, Fla. – Three weeks ago under the bright lights of Booklyn’s Barclays Center, boxer Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin delivered a left that shook up the Big Apple.

In front of a national television audience of more than 3 million, the hit knocked out Lubin's opponent Jorge Cota.

Lubin said the vibe “was crazy” in the Barclays Center the night of the March 4 fight.

“I just remember going in there, you know, against a tough competitor like Cota and my squat, my signature squat, and then knocking him out,” Lubin told News 6.

The fourth-round technical knockout guaranteed Lubin, 21, the opportunity he's been working towards for years: a shot at the World Boxing Council Super Welterweight Championship.

The Orlando native is now the top contender for the belt that is currently held by Jermell Charlo. Lubin also has the chance to unseat Kosei Tanaka as boxing’s youngest current world champion.

"The Hammer" should get his crack at the championship this fall along with his "twins,"-- Lubin's right and left fists-- "Jack" and "Sledge."

Lubin, a confident, charismatic and undefeated fighter, stopped by the News 6 studio to talk with sports anchor Jamie Seh.
