NASCAR fan sues over 2015 crash at Coke Zero 400 Man accuses NASCAR, speedway of negligence
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – An Orlando man injured during a crash at the 2015 Coke Zero 400 is now suing NASCAR and Daytona International Speedway.
The crash sent driver Austin Dillion's car flying into a fence near the finish line.
Dillion was not seriously hurt in the crash, but five fans who were in the stands had to be treated for injuries.
William Fulton states in the lawsuit that he was hit in the head and shoulder while trying to shield his wife from debris.
According to the Daytona Beach News Journal, the lawsuit accuses both NASCAR and the Daytona International Speedway of negligence.
Fulton claims they failed to install safe barriers in the stands and failed to warn fans about the risks of sitting near the catch fences.
No other lawsuits have been filed in connection with the race.
