Magic forward Aaron Gordon selected to participate in Slam Dunk Contest

Team says this marks 8th time Magic player will be represented in contest

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon has been selected to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest, the team said Thursday.

The contest is scheduled to take place Saturday, Feb. 13 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto during State Farm All-Star Saturday Night.

Gordon, who was the fourth selection in the 2014 NBA Draft, is averaging 7.7 ppg. and 5.7 rpg. in 21.0 minpg this season, according to the Orlando Magic. He has led (or tied) the team in scoring twice and in rebounding seven times.

The Magic said Gordon has scored in double figures 20 times and has set career-highs in scoring (19 vs. Boston on Sunday) and rebounds (16 vs. San Antonio on Monday) in the past week.

This will mark the eighth time a Magic player will be represented in the Slam Dunk Contest, team officials said. Past participants include:
--Victor Oladipo – 2015
--Dwight Howard – 2009, 2008, 2007
--Darrell Armstrong – 1996
--Nick Anderson – 1992
--Otis Smith – 1991

The team said Gordon will be joined in the contest by Minnesota's Zach LaVine, Detroit's Andre Drummond and Denver's Will Barton.
