NFL game comes back to Orlando

NFL preseason game back for 1st time in almost 2 decades

ORLANDO, Fla. – The NFL is back in Orlando.

It's the first time in almost twenty years the major league has played in the City Beautiful.

Close to 50,000 people were expected to fill Camping World Stadium to watch the Miami Dolphins battle the Atlanta Falcons.

Preparations began Thursday morning as crews set up tents and barriers.

With a big game came a few security changes.

"We're introducing the clear bag policy which is standard at all NFL stadiums and most college stadiums. That means every item that you have has to fit in a very small clear bag to go through and speed up the process of getting in. Everyone is going to be wanded and checked," said Allen Johnson, Exec. Director of Orlando Venues.

Johnson wouldn't go into too much detail about security for safety measures but he did say Orlando police and other agencies will in and around the stadium.

With close to 50,000 people said to fill the seats, parking could have been an issue.

"We suggest parking downtown. Taking the shuttle which is free because parking is sold out and it's the quickest way to get to the stadium," said Johnson.

Avid Miami Dolphin fan Kelly Fuller is no stranger to NFL game procedures.

"I was born and raised a Dolphin's fan. Season ticket holder for so many years. So, It's nice to see them finally come here and I don't have to commute all the way to South Florida," said Fuller.

Fuller isn't the only one who welcomed the game.

"The numbers show us that over 50 percent of the tickets were purchased outside of the Orlando area, so that means people are staying at hotels, you know, places on Church Street and Orange Avenue," said Johnson.

Johnson hopes Thursday's game will bring added success and bookings.

Either way, people like Fuller say it's good for the area.

"I think it's going to bring everyone together. Something fun to do. To get out of the house. Especially during these times. We need something fun for the community," said Fuller.
