Retired postal worker still delivering with charity golf tournament
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. โ As the sun rises over Pelican Bay Country Club in Daytona, retired postal worker, Greg Korkus, is looking forward to a fun morning on the golf course. Korkus is manning the check-in table at the 32nd โSoaring Eaglesโ Charity Golf Event. The letter carrier welcomes players to the โFamous Polish Holeโ where a variety of traditional Polish dishes are offered as part of the registration fee. โBecause we were the first ones to start cooking.โA steady flow of socially distanced golf cart traffic stops by the set-up. โThe polish hole is pretty important,โ Hand says with a smile.
Search for mentors motivates Getting Results Award winner
The mentoring program she started with just a few children now serves up to 300 students in the Volusia County school system. The Galaxy Middle School ESE teacher helps host the schoolโs D.R.E.A.M program. โShe doesnโt just talk about it, she is about it.โBenzo was nominated for the news 6 Getting Results Award by Donald DโOrto. DโOrto was a teacher at Southwestern Middle School in DeLand and volunteered for the schoolโs D.R.E.A.M program under Benzoโs leadership.
