1 killed in wreck near ChampionsGate exit, troopers say

A fatal crash closes I-4 in Osceola County.

A woman was killed and five others, including children, were injured in a crash on Interstate 4 Monday morning in Osceola County

The wreck happened around 7 a.m. on I-4 east near the ChampionsGate exit.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Candida Nonthe Pena, 43, of Clearwater, was killed in the crash when the driver of an SUV lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle overturned multiple times and Pena was ejected, troopers said.

FHP said a 10-year-old girl, 5-year-old boy and one-year-old boy were all seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the vehicle and a 38-year-old passenger suffered minor injuries.

Troopers said they are trying to determine of the children were also ejected from the vehicle.

Both directions were closed after the crash but later reopened. 

No other details have been released.

Charges are pending in the crash, which remains under investigation.
