Fiery crash knocks out power in Orange County

Troopers investigate crash on Moss Park Road

ORLANDO, Fla. – A car struck a power pole early Friday in Orange County, bursting into flames and knocking out power to nearby customers.

The crash was reported at Moss Park Road and Lake Hart Drive in Orlando.

The Florida Highway Patrol said the vehicle was southbound when the driver lost control and crashed into the pole. The car landed in a ditch and caught fire, troopers said.

The driver was taken to a hospital but is expected to be OK, the FHP said.

It's not known if alcohol played a role in the crash, the FHP said.

The wreck toppled some power lines, knocking out power about 1,000 Duke Energy customers, officials said. Power has been restored.
