Florida Turnpike, school locked down because of nearby police activity

Gateway High School locked down

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Gateway High School in Kissimmee is on lockdown Monday and part of the Florida Turnpike is blocked off because of nearby law enforcement activity, according to the Osceola County Sheriff's Office.

School had already let out for the day and the only students on campus are in after-school and extracurricular activities, a spokesperson for the Osceola School District said.

All lanes of the Florida Turnpike near U.S. 192 were blocked off because of Sheriff's Office activity.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is on the turnpike searching for a suspect of a stolen vehicle, a Osceola County public information officer said.

Three people were detained and deputies are still searching for a fourth person, deputies said.

Deputies used stop sticks to stop the stolen vehicle on the turnpike, authorities said.

No other details were available.
