Major roadwork is set to begin on one of the busiest stretches of highway in Central Florida.
Workers on Monday will begin widening a 2-mile stretch of State Road 408 from Good Homes Road to Hiawassee Road in Orange County.
The $23.5 million project will add a new lane in each direction to ease traffic.
Currently, more than 71,000 vehicles travel the section of S.R. 408 every day, and that number is expected to grow to more than 108,000 by 2035.
