"We are pinpointing more near-record heat," News 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said. "High pressure just to the southeast of Florida is sending in a southwest wind into the afternoon on Tuesday."

Afternoon highs will be near 90 degrees in many parts of the region. The average high for Orlando on this date is 78. The record high for Orlando on this date is 91, set in 1971.

"Rain chances will stay out of the picture as high pressure begins to dominate through Wednesday," Bridges said.

By Thursday, St. Patrick's Day, rain chances return to 20 percent, with highs in the mid-80s.

"A new system brings higher rain chances for Friday, Saturday and Sunday," Bridges said. "Temperatures will be back in the upper 70s by the end of the weekend."
