Rain chances drop in Central Florida

Heat index to be near 100 degrees in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. – Central Florida -- at least most of the region -- will get a two-day reprieve from rain.

"The front that brought rain to the Orlando area Tuesday afternoon is pushing into South Florida," Local 6 meteorologist Troy Bridges said.  "Drier air moves in behind the front, leading to low rain chances at 20 percent for Wednesday and Thursday."

High temperatures in Orlando will warm to 95 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

Rain chances return to a typical summer pattern at 40 percent from Friday into Sunday.

"An area of low pressure way out in the Atlantic will likely become a tropical depression in a couple of days," Bridges said.  "Currently, there's  a 70 percent chance of development."
