Rain chances increase Sunday, Monday in Central Florida

Upcoming week looks close to normal with chance of rain each afternoon

ORLANDO, Fla. – A slot of dry air moved over Florida on Saturday, reducing the chance of rain except at the coast, especially Brevard County, where ocean moisture and heat produced some heavy downpours around Melbourne and Camp Holly.

Most of the heavy action was west of I-95.

The dry air won't last, however, and the chance of rain moves up to 40 percent Sunday and 50 percent by Monday.

It's officially fall, but the temperatures still loom around 92 degrees inland and 89 degrees at the beaches. More of the same is expected Sunday.

Overnight lows will drop to a muggy 74 degrees.

The upcoming week looks close to normal with a 40 percent chance of rain each and every afternoon, and temperatures hitting 90 degrees or above.

Tracking the tropics

The tropics are active but no threat to Florida. Karl and Lisa are "fish" storms, and the newest of the bunch has potential and is still far, far away. The long-range forecast has it staying south of Cuba at this time.
