Graham Media Group in market No. 15, Orlando, Florida, is looking for a creative, innovative, and tech-savvy Video Editor!

This role at WKMG News 6 is for you, if you thrive on the pressure of daily deadlines and can edit fast at a high level, while still paying attention to details, such as matching scripts and sourcing instructions. You also need to be an exceptional collaborator who can work productively with a variety of workgroups, including editors, producers, reporters, photographers and news managers.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The main video genre this Video Editor will engage with each day involves covering real-life, hyper-local hard news impacting Central Florida.

This person will be on the front lines of ingesting, editing and showcasing content across platforms.

While the primary focus for this editor will be editing for broadcast, it’s important you have a basic awareness of horizontal and video techniques for horizontal and vertical videos that perform well on websites, YouTube and social media channels.

Previous experience in After Effects/video animation and video library management are an added bonus.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ingest and edit video content for stories showcased on broadcast, digital, connected TV, YouTube and social channels.
  • Collaborate closely with reporters and photographers on sending file video and other content, understanding and utilizing File Transfer Protocols efficiently.
  • Manage the archival and retrieval of video assets, maintaining an organized and accessible digital library.
  • Assist in the production of content for digital, social, and multiplatform outlets, optimizing linear content for online publication.
  • Oversee media pushed into playback servers and manage system administration tasks, including monitoring media storage, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Edit content requiring additional production processes, such as blurring faces or adding audio bleeps, to meet broadcast standards.
  • Provide occasional, more advanced editing support for long-form news stories and investigations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in television news or high-volume video production.
  • Proficient in Edius and Adobe Premier and familiarity with contemporary television production techniques.
  • Quick study on new and rapidly changing editing and video technologies.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and highly creative, with a strong proficiency in storytelling through sound and images.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field.
  • Experience in After Effects and/or video animation.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools and content management systems, with a strong understanding of metrics for television and digital success.
  • Proven ability to work across departments and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong editorial judgment and mastery of journalistic ethics and libel laws.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
