Graham Media Group in Market #15 Orlando, Florida, is looking for a creative and tech-savvy Video Editor, with the added skillsets of a videographer! This role at WKMG News 6 is for you if you are proficient in creative editing styles that complement algorithms and grow audiences in digital and social spaces. You also thrive on the pressure of daily deadlines and can produce high-quality editing at a fast pace, while still paying attention to details, such as matching scripts and sourcing instructions. And you need to be an exceptional collaborator who can work productively with a variety of workgroups, including editors, producers, reporters, photographers, and news managers.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The main video genre this Video Editor will engage with each day involves covering real-life, hyper-local news that matters to people living in Central Florida. This person knows the editing and graphic trends that drive engagement with video content on News 6 websites, YouTube, and social media channels and can execute those editing and graphic treatments, including 16x9 and 9x16 videos and algorithm-driving thumbnails. Previous experience as a local news photojournalist is an added bonus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Edit and distribute video content for broadcast, digital, streaming, YouTube, and social media channels; this includes optimizing TV-first content for digital sharing and digital-first content for TV.
- Knowledge of creative editing techniques that also maintain the video’s factual accuracy.
- Turn around high-performing video content at a fast pace every day.
- Partner with the Executive Producer daily to analyze digital metrics and use A/B testing techniques to improve video performance.
- Occasional shoots of local news segments as digital extras.
- Fill in for television video editors as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere, Edius, and Davinci editing platforms.
- Proficient in YouTube and top social media platform-posting.
- Quick study on new and rapidly changing editing and video technologies.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Self-motivated, collaborative, and highly creative, with a strong proficiency in storytelling through sound and images.
- Prior experience in television news or high-volume video production.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in fields such as Film/Documentaries, Social Media Marketing, Journalism, or Communications.
- Prior experience in television news or high-volume video production.
- Experience shooting local news stories using a variety of cameras, from cell phones to DSLR to traditional over-the-shoulder television cameras.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and content management systems, with a strong understanding of metrics for digital success.
