General Sales Manager

WKMG News 6 is looking for a dynamic General Sales Manager with experience in Digital Sales strategy who is ready to lead, grow, and win.

Graham Media Group in Market #15 Orlando, Fla. is searching for a dynamic and modern sales leader to drive the day-to-day revenue and sales strategy across WKMG-TV, ClickOrlando.com, News 6+, and other o-and-o apps and third-party assets. This is the right role for you if you’re a people-first leader who has a proven track record of growing market share while also unlocking and growing new revenue streams. You have a deep understanding of the Digital Sales market, its opportunities, and how to lead a team to capture those opportunities. You balance thriving in a competitive and fast-paced environment with the patience of building teams and motivating them to transform their work and accomplish new outcomes. You also have a healthy respect for the role local journalism plays for the communities they serve, and an understanding of how to partner with the journalism space. And you bring integrity, strategic vision, and the kind of energy that elevates everyone around you.

Position overview

Success in this role is measured by your ability to lead people, grow revenue, and shape the future of how WKMG sells across every platform. You will lead a team of two Local Sales Managers, a National Sales Manager, a Digital Revenue Accelerator, and 9 Account Executives. As GSM, you report directly to the VP/General Manager and sit on the station’s senior leadership team — which means your decisions matter and your impact is felt across the entire organization.

What you’ll do

  • Lead transactional business negotiations, collaborating with local, national, and digital sales managers to maximize revenue at every level.
  • Manage sales inventory and rate strategy, working hand-in-hand with the station’s operations and traffic specialists and the Graham Media Group Traffic Hub.
  • Champion cross-platform selling with a strong command of digital media, analytics, pricing, and negotiation — and help the team stay ahead of where the industry is heading.
  • Build and execute short and long-range sales plans, including developing new business opportunities, digital strategies, and annual revenue budgets — then drive accountability throughout the year.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop exceptional sales talent — setting them up to hit revenue targets and execute the station’s sales plan.
  • Set measurable goals, analyze market trends, motivate a team of seasoned sellers, and hold managers and staff accountable to department and station-wide objectives.
  • Take on other projects and initiatives as assigned by the General Manager.

What you bring

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in sales — what matters most is what you’ve accomplished.
  • A minimum of 10 years in broadcast or media sales, including 3–5 years in a sales management role.
  • Hands-on experience with metered Nielsen ratings and a demonstrated track record of competing — and winning — in a highly competitive market.
  • Familiarity with Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, and Salesforce preferred.
  • A proven history of driving local revenue and delivering creative, client-focused solutions.
  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to work effectively across teams and departments.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional leadership skills — you’re a skilled negotiator, a natural motivator, and an assertive, creative problem solver.
  • A valid state driver’s license (or the ability to obtain one).
