Osceola bus driver shortage may cause students to arrive home late Friday

Officials: holiday weekend, current shortage and call outs cause delays

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Osceola County public school students may arrive home a little later Friday afternoon due to a bus driver shortage, school officials said.

The school district is already short on drivers, and the holiday weekend created a larger shortage Friday, a district spokesperson told News 6.

The district issued a bulletin to parents Friday at 1:30 p.m. warning them about the delays for bus riders.

"We ask that you keep this in mind this afternoon and appreciate your patience as we work to get all students home safely," the statement read.

Concerned parents and guardians can call the Transportation Parent Hotline at 407-483-3673.

The district said in February that they were down to about 30 drivers and hosted a job fair to recruit new drivers.
