With summer cookouts right around the corner, the price of ketchup is on the rise.
CNN.com reported that a 32-ounce bottle of ketchup jumped nearly 28% over the last year.
Ketchup went from $4.08 on average the week of May 16, 2022, to $5.22 in the week of May 15, 2023, according to Datasembly, which measures weekly changes in grocery prices at over 150,000 US stores for its Grocery Price Index.
The CNN report also stated that other condiments have seen a jump in prices, including a 20-ounce bottle of mustard, which rose about 13% in that time period, and 26-ounce bottles and jars of relish, which have increased about 12%.
Food inflation has been consistently outpacing overall inflation, jumping 7.1% from January through April.
