Hawaii comes in at No. 1 in nationwide list

“The happiest states are those that provide above-average quality of life in a wide variety of areas, from strong state economies and high-quality physical and mental health care to adequate amounts of leisure time and good weather,” WalletHub analyst Chip Lupo said.

The top-ranked state on this year’s list was revealed to be Hawaii, though the Sunshine State still fared well, coming in at No. 14.

Florida particularly excelled when it came to emotional and physical well-being, though it nearly came in last for its community and environment, the study claims.

Within Florida, though, WalletHub found that cities varied a bit more. Pembroke Pines was rated the happiest city in the state, with Jacksonville being deemed the most miserable.
