Is Publix the most satisfying grocer in Florida? Here’s what this study has to say

The American Customer Satisfaction Index has released the latest scores for customer satisfaction at supermarkets nationwide, revealing that the Florida-native Publix chain is not actually alone at the top of the list.

The study examines several benchmarks for determining customer experiences at grocery stores, including the convenience of store hours/locations, checkout speed, and store layouts.

Overall, Publix ranked No. 1 on the list this year, with a 2025 score of 84 points. However, it dropped a point from last year, meaning it’s now toe-to-toe with Trader Joe’s.

Publix was also dubbed the “customer satisfaction leader” for the southern U.S., though it shared that spot with H-E-B, a Texas-based supermarket chain.

While supermarkets in general kept a static score of 79 between 2024 and 2025, the index reveals that some features — like order readiness and staff courtesy — actually dropped a bit in overall customer satisfaction.

“With customers returning to stores — but also shopping more online — supermarkets are tasked with ensuring a satisfying, seamless experience no matter how their customers choose to shop,” the index reads.

Last year, Publix held a top score of 85 for customer satisfaction nationwide, tying with H-E-B and Costco. However, the latter two ended up dropping much further, with H-E-B placing in No. 5, and Costco coming in at No. 7 this year.
