Restaurant chain filed for bankruptcy in March

ORLANDO, Fla. – Just a few months after Hooters filed for a motion for Chapter 11 protection, the chicken wing chain abruptly closed dozens of locations across the United States, including several in Florida.

A Hooters spokesperson said the locations were owned by the company and were not franchises.

About 30 locations were affected in seven states, including four in Central Florida. The shuttered restaurants are located in Sanford, Melbourne, Kirkman Road in Orlando and Osceola Parkway in Kissimmee.

Founded in Clearwater, Florida, the U.S. restaurant chain is known for chicken wings and skimpy “Hooters Girls” wait-staff outfits.

Hooters isn’t the only restaurant chain to file for bankruptcy recently. Red Lobster, TGI Fridays and Buca di Beppo filed for protection last year.
