ORLANDO, Fla. – A Publix worker just received a rather unusual moniker: the “best bagger in the country,” according to the Florida-native grocery chain.
In a release, Publix officials said that the worker — front service clerk Rocco Cammarota from a Suwannee, Georgia location — took part in the National Grocers Association Best Bagger Championship held in Las Vegas earlier this month.
“Rocco competed with 17 other baggers from grocery retailers in different states,” the release reads. “The competition required speed, weight distribution and skill. Rocco excelled in all three areas.”
According to the company, Cammarota received training and support from his older brother, who previously competed in the nationals.

Cammarota ultimately won the championship, receiving $10,000 from the National Grocers Association and a trophy for the victory.
“He is now officially recognized as the best bagger in the country,” Publix announced. “Publix is proud to give cheers to Rocco for bringing home the national title!”
