ORLANDO, Fla. – We’ve been hearing about foam-in-a-bag; it’s expanding polyurethane foam that mixes inside the bag and sets almost instantly. It claims to be almost as strong as concrete, so it’s NOT ideal for anything structural but allegedly ideal for mailboxes, fences and light posts. We gave it a shot!
If you have a project you’d like Erik to tackle, send us an email at GettingResultsAtHome@wkmg.com and next week, Erik might just show up at your door!

Step 1
Put on your glasses and gloves, this stuff is messy! And warning - all of these steps go very quickly! The foam mixes and firms up in seconds so make sure you read all of the instructions thoroughly before you start these steps.
Step 2
Make sure your post is ready to be set. Make sure it’s in the hole and make sure the hole is deep enough. Then, roll up the bag following the direction of the arrows (like a toothpaste tube). As soon as you roll up the bag and hear a pop the liquid inside the bag starts to mix.
Step 3
Mix quick! Immediately after the pop inside the bag, you’ll want to forcefully mix it - the instructions show by rubbing it back and forth on your leg for 15 seconds.
Step 4
Cut open the bag quick! Immediately after mixing, cut open the bag. You don’t want to wait with this step! When the bag starts to get warm that means the foam is already expanding and if you don’t open the bag quickly it can explode, according to the directions.
Step 5
Pour and set quick! Immediately after cutting open the bag, pour the foam into the hole and then you only have 10 seconds to set your mailbox and make sure it’s straight and level. Hold it for as long as 3 minutes and then it shouldn’t go anywhere. Give it 2 hours to dry to full strength.
Step 6
After the foam dries fully, cut off any extra foam that might have expanded out of the hole using a large knife and then cover it up with dirt and or mulch.
You just got results at home!
