BOSTON – A 5-year-old Orlando boy battling brain cancer got a big birthday surprise from "Batman."
Jacob Vincent has undergone four brain surgeries in the last year, three in Florida and one in Boston, which has become home away from home for his family over the last six months.
"He had six weeks of radiation and started oral chemo and we went home," said Jacob's mother, Tara Vincent. "Four weeks ago, he started to go downhill (and) his seizures got worse. He was hospitalized three times and we came back to Boston."
The Lenox, where the Vincents are staying, found out that Jacob's birthday was near, so the hotel asked his mother if they could throw him a party.
"They told me they wanted to plan something special and (asked) if I was OK with it," Tara Vincent said. "Of course. I wanted the best for him."
The hotel threw Jacob a huge surprise birthday party that included a visit from "Batman," firefighters and his friends.
Jacob also dressed up as Batman and was escorted to a "bat cave," where the party continued.
"This is phenomenal. I had no idea about (the details), and I just thank everybody who was involved," Tara Vincent said.
Doctors are trying to determine what's the next best stop for Jacob, who may have to undergo another brain surgery.
"He just proves when something goes wrong, he's the happiest kid, even through all this," Tara Vincent said.
