ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Altamonte Springs now has a new top destination for immersive gaming and interactive entertainment with the opening of Activate, a cutting-edge gaming facility that blends retro arcade style with modern technology.
Activate, founded five years ago, offers an immersive gaming experience that combines nostalgic 1980s arcade visuals with high-tech interactive games. The facility is designed for families, groups, and gamers of all skill levels looking for fun, active entertainment beyond traditional video games or theme parks.
Sebastien Piche, vice president of operations for Activate, oversees growth across Canada and the U.S. He explained the concept was born from the founders’ successful escape-room business and a desire to create a replayable, team-based gaming experience.
“Activate was created to offer more than a one-time visit,” Piche said. “Players can come back repeatedly to unlock new levels, improve their skills, and enjoy a unique social gaming environment.”

Located in Altamonte Springs, the facility features over 55 interactive games, each with 10 levels of increasing difficulty. Players check in with wristbands that create profiles to track progress and save their game data for future visits.
Groups of two or more can play together, with up to five players per room. Larger parties can split into teams and compete simultaneously. Sessions last 60 or 90 minutes, with online booking recommended for evenings, weekends, and large groups.
Activate’s games range from fast-paced physical challenges to strategic puzzles. The popular Mega Grid game, known for its “floor is lava” style gameplay, has gained viral attention on TikTok. Other games focus on hand-eye coordination, pattern recognition, and mental puzzles, making the facility accessible for kids as young as six.
“You don’t have to be an athlete to enjoy Activate,” Piche said. “Whether you want to break a sweat or solve puzzles, there’s a game for you.”
Activate also offers a competitive gaming league where teams of three to five players compete weekly across global locations. The league features skill-based divisions, ensuring fair competition for casual and advanced gamers alike.
The league runs a five-week regular season followed by playoffs. The upcoming third season starts Jan.19, with pre-registration open now. Over 2,500 players participated in the previous season.
“The Activate Games League adds excitement and community to the gaming experience,” Piche said. “It’s a great way to connect with other players and compete in a fun, supportive environment.”

Fisher’s favorite game is the Press Room, featuring immersive visuals, music, and pattern recognition challenges.
“It’s a highly recommended experience that really showcases what Activate offers,” he said.
Activate is more than just a gaming venue — it’s a place for families, friends, and coworkers to connect through engaging, active entertainment. Whether for a fun night out, team building, or competitive play, Activate offers a unique, replayable gaming experience that keeps players coming back.
