1 dead, 1 injured in shooting after rave, Lake County deputies say

Deputies: Injured victim undergoing surgery

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – One man was killed and another was injured Saturday morning in a shooting after a party, Lake County deputies said.

Deputies said the two men were shot near Sheridan Road around 2:30 a.m.

The Sheriff's Office said it believes the shooting was related to a large rave that took place in Mount Dora that may have been letting out around the time the shooting took place. The rave was advertised as "Project X" and 500 to 1,000 people, who were mostly bused in from areas outside Lake County, were in attendance, deputies said.

Officials said off-duty Mount Dora officers and Lake County deputies were hired as security for the event.

Deputies said the rave took place in a plaza a few minutes away from where the victims were found, so they are not sure exactly where the shooting took place.

Lake County deputies said Steven Charlostin, 21, of Orlando, was found dead inside a car that was reported stolen out of Tampa.

The other man, who was found on a nearby driveway, was taken to ORMC and underwent surgery, deputies said. Details about his condition were not immediately available.

Sgt. Jim Vachon told News 6 that both victims attended the rave.

Deputies said they did not have information about the shooter.

Mount Dora police said Saturday's shooting was not related to the one that took place outside a Mount Dora Walmart Friday evening.

Vachon said two shootings in Mount Dora within hours of each other is unusual.

No other details were available. Stay with News 6 and ClickOrlando.com for updates on this developing story.
