2 dead in apparent murder-suicide in Altamonte Springs identified

Police launch death investigation

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found in an Altamonte Springs home just before noon Sunday appeared to be a murder-suicide, police said in a news release.

Detectives on Monday identified the woman as Brianne Ortt, 37, and the man as Samuel Martin, 40. Detectives said Ortt and Martin both suffered gunshot wounds to the head.

Altamonte Springs police said it appears Martin and Ortt were in a romantic relationship.

"Although it is unknown what led to the tragic shooting, it is believed that Martin shot Ortt and then turned the gun on himself sometime in the early morning hours," police said in a news release.

The Altamonte Springs Police Department said officers were sent to 376 Cedarbrook Lane in reference to a suspicious incident. Officers discovered two bodies inside the residence.

Neighbors said a man and woman, approximately in their 30s live in the home. The couple was described as quiet, never causing problems and frequently waving to others while doing yard work.

Altamonte Springs police detectives ask anyone who may be able to provide more information about the circumstances that led to the deaths to contact Crimeline or the Police Department directly at 407-339-2441.
