DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The father of Casey Anthony, who is charged with murdering her daughter, Caylee, remains hospitalized Monday after threatening to commit suicide last week.
George Anthony was taken to Halifax Medical Center early Friday morning after police found him despondent inside a Daytona Beach motel room. Sources told Local 6 News that George Anthony had taken several sleeping pills, and a 12-pack carton of beer was found in the motel room.

An unfinished three-page suicide letter was found in his car, according to sources, and he had sent text messages to family members saying he wanted to end his life, Daytona Beach police said.
"He said, 'Look, I just needed to get away. I needed to get away to think things out. You can leave now.' Well, unfortunately, we can't," said Daytona Beach Police Chief Mike Chitwood, who took George Anthony to the hospital.
George Anthony was admitted to the hospital under the Florida Baker Act, which allows authorities to hold a person deemed to have the ability to harm themself or others. It is not known if he is now being held on a voluntary basis. He's listed in stable condition.
"George isn't going anywhere until the right people have evaluated him and everyone agrees that he's better," said Brad Conway, the attorney representing George Anthony and his wife, Cindy Anthony.
Casey Anthony, 22, remains jailed on first-degree murder charges in the death of her daughter, Caylee, whose remains were found last month in a wooded area near George and Cindy Anthony's home.
New Motions Filed
Meanwhile, Casey Anthony's attorney, Jose Baez, filed new motions Monday in his client's murder case.
Baez is asking Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland to issue sanctions against the state because he claims prosecutors are keeping at least one expert report secret.
Prosecutors have said in the past that they cannot give Baez reports they do not possess. Reports like the ones Baez is seeking may be in the possession of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Local 6 News reported.
No hearing date has been scheduled for the motion nor another motion seeking further access to computer records from Casey Anthony's former boyfriend, Rick Morales.
