Cops: Shoe-cam used for upskirt video

Man swallowed memory card, deputies say

LAKE MARY, Fla. – A man was arrested on Friday on charges that he was videotaping up a girl's skirt with a camera located in his shoe.

The girl's mother told police she noticed a man following her daughter around the Target in Lake Mary on Friday evening.

The mother said she watched Gustavo Barreto move his left foot toward her daughter whenever she moved. She said she noticed a small hole with a camera lens sticking out of it in Barreto's left shoe and ordered him to remove it.

Seminole County deputies arrived at the store, and the victim's mother gave them the camera and the wires.

Deputies observed that the SD card slot in the camera was empty. Barreto, 41, said he never had a memory card, but X-rays revealed small metal objects in Barreto's stomach and intestines.

Deputies said Gustavo told them he was trying to videotape up the victim's skirt, but this was his first time.

A computer and video camera were recovered from Barreto's house. Deputies said the computer had other videos taken under girls' skirts at various other locations.

Barreto was charged with video voyeurism on a 16-year-old and destroying evidence. He was released from the Seminole County Jail on $3,000 bail. He lives in a Sanford neighborhood located across the street from an elementary school.
