2 Bodies Recovered During Search For Wreckage

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla. – The two people killed in a plane crash Wednesday off the coast of New Smyrna Beach were Norway natives living in South Florida, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Authorities found the bodies of William Bloch, 28, Daytona Beach; and Gustav Granholm, 21, Holly Hill; while searching for wreckage in the ocean.

The Cessna 172 single-engine plane crashed around 150 yards off the coast Wednesday evening. The plane was being flown by a student and an instructor from the Phoenix East school based out of Daytona Beach.

The bodies were found by Sheriff's Office divers around 10:20 a.m. Friday inside the cabin of the plane, which was found around 20 feet deep 200 yards off the coast.

The National Transportation Safety Board said the crash occurred in the area where students undergo water maneuver training.

The cause of the crash is still being investigated.
