The first fire crews arrived in less than four minutes and made sure everyone was safely out of the building.

A mother, along with her three children, was treated for non-life-threatening smoke inhalation and burn injuries.

However, according to Orange County Fire Chief Michael Howe this fire could have been prevented, "The mother had stated the child had been playing with a lighter," he said.

All four of the apartments in the building were impacted by the fire. Eighteen residents have been referred to American Red Cross for assistance.
