Melbourne Police Look For 2 Other Assailants

MELBOURNE, Fla. – A Melbourne resident thwarted a home invasion Thursday afternoon by shooting one of the four intruders, according to Melbourne police.

Four people attempted to enter the home on Maid Marian Lane in Melbourne. The homeowner shot one of them in the right leg and they all fled, Melbourne police Cmdr. Sean Riordan told Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

The person who was shot was taken into custody on Nottingham Road, a block from the home. Another culprit was caught two blocks away, near the One Stop Food & Discount Beverage at Post and Croton roads.

Melbourne police are still looking the other two, described as muscular men and wearing black clothing.
