Jim Solomons Passes Away After Battle With Cancer

ORLANDO, Fla. – Longtime Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Solomons passed away Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

Solomons passed away as he rested at his home in the care of his wife, Judy, the Sheriff's Office said.

Solomons had been with the Sheriff's Office for more than 26 years. He joined the Orange County Sheriff's Office under Lawson Lamar as Assistant Public Relations Officer in 1985 and became the conduit of media information for thousands of cases during his career.

Solomons received dozens of commendations and awards from the Sheriff's Office and his dedication led to his statewide recognition as a premier Public Information Officer.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Orlando on Friday at 2 p.m.
