The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal's Islands of Adventure will be reanimated for 2012 in 4K high-definition--the highest HD resolution available, according to Universal. The 3-D glasses used in the ride are getting an upgrade with new lenses, increasing the color and clarity.
New details will also be added, on the brink of the newest Spider-Man film, "The Amazing Spider-Man", which is set to be released in 2012.
Despicable Me will be another 3-D ride at Universal Studios based on the 2010 movie, opening in 2012, the company said. The attraction will use a new 3-D projection system to make the picture sharper. In the ride, guests will get a glimpse into Gru's lair and secret lab, be transformed into minions from the movie and have a minion-inspired interactive dance party.
The official announcement will come Wednesday, Jan. 25.
The new additions come after a successful year for Universal from the Harry Potter attraction, which debuted in Orlando in June 2010 and increased attendance at the park by nearly 50 percent.
