Officials: SunRail jobs should stay in county

Volusia officials have labor questions about project

BEBARRY, Fla. – Volusia County leaders are calling out SunRail organizers saying they aren't doing enough to create new jobs for local residents, according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal.

At a council meeting Wednesday, county leaders told construction companies that they need to hold a county-wide job fair soon.

But the man in charge of building the DeBary platform said his company wouldn't guarantee they would hire people from Volusia County, the paper reports.

The transportation department hopes to break ground on SunRail in DeBary in April.
