LAKE MARY, Fla. – Lake Mary's mail sorting facility is one of three in the Interstate 4 corridor to be closed, according the final list of closings released Thursday by the U.S. Postal System.
Lake Mary's 400 workers learned yesterday their operations will be moved to the USPS Facility at Orlando International Airport.

It's not clear how many of their jobs are expected to be eliminated or when the facility will close.
In addition to Lake Mary, the St. Petersburg and Lakeland Processing centers are being closed. Those operations will move to Tampa.
There is some good news for Central Florida. The post office on 207 W. Plant St. in downtown Winter Garden will remain open, as well a facility in Melbourne Beach.
USPS says it has seen a 25 percent decrease in First-Class Mail volume since 2006.
It receives no tax dollars for its operations, relying instead on the sale of postage, and postal products and services.
"The decision to consolidate mail processing facilities recognizes the urgent need to reduce the size of the national mail processing network to eliminate costly underutilized infrastructure," said Chief Operating Officer Megan Brennan in a release. "Consolidating operations is necessary if the Postal Service is to remain viable to provide mail service to the nation."
