Jose Baez cleared of complaints during Anthony trial

Florida Bar: No formal discipline but letter of advice issued

ORLANDO, Fla. – Defense attorney, Jose Baez will not be formally disciplined for his actions during the Casey Anthony murder trial, according to the Florida Bar.

The Florida Bar's grievance committee dismissed two complaints filed against him and found he did not violate the rules.

In one case, Baez was cleared entirely of misleading the court by claiming Anthony had completed her check fraud probation while in jail.

A second complaint however resulted in a mild scolding in which a letter of advice was issued. The Florida Bar claims Baez was not consistent with the high standards of the legal profession in a complaint which stemmed from Baez failing to comply with deadlines and orders on disclosure of expert witness opinion.

In a statement, Baez says the grievance committee was fair and thorough in its decision.

Baez announced earlier this month he is no longer representing Anthony, who was acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee last July.

Anthony is currently serving probation on an unrelated check fraud charge.
