Gitmo detainees to get $744,000 soccer field Goalposts should be up by April No description found
GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba – The Pentagon has said it is restoring a 28,000-square-foot "super-rec" space that includes a field at Guantanamo Bay.
According to The Washington Post , the recreation space will also include a track and shaded areas in the corners. Detainees will reach the field by walking through covered walkways.
Officials said the detainees missed their soccer matches and improving morale makes guards' jobs easier.
The cost of the project is $744,000. Officials said most things at Guantanamo cost more because nearly everything has to be flown in or brought in on a barge.
The goalposts should be up by April.
