DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 25-year-old man survived after tripping and falling off a third-floor Daytona Beach hotel balcony, according to a police report.
James Cannata, of Bunnell, fell about 10 p.m. Thursday at the Ocean Walk Resort on Atlantic Avenue. Cannata was taken to Halifax Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, but he's expected to be OK.
According to Daytona Beach police, Marco Alvarez said he and Cannata were walking down some stairs when Cannata tripped and fell over a railing.
Alvarez said he ran down to help his friend and called police.
Daytona Beach police said the men had been drinking before the fall.
A woman working in a store on the second floor of the hotel also witnessed the fall, according to police.
