Albertsons to close six Central Fla. stores

ORLANDO, Fla. – Albertsons announced on Tuesday it would close more than a dozen of its Florida stores, including six in Central Florida.

The company says it will shut down both Apopka locations and the stores in Winter Springs, Longwood, Lake Mary and Orlando.  The only local store that will remain open is the Altamonte Springs location on East Altamonte Drive.

All six stores will hold a liquidation sale beginning on May 9 and close by June 9.

Albertsons will also close its Plant City distribution center, according to Christine Wilcox, communications director for the company.  Wilcox says the company will work with store associates to determine any options available to them within the company.
