Deputies: Pantyhose-wearing intruder arrested

Marion County deputies release surveillance video of suspect

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Marion County deputies on Wednesday arrested a man accused of forcing his way into a 72-year-old woman's home and robbing her.

Richard Haberlin, 33, was arrested on several charges, including robbery home invasion with a weapon, in the incident, which happened about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at a home near SE 36th Avenue and Maricamp Road.

The victim, who didn't want to be identified, said she walked into her garage to let her dog out and saw a man with pantyhose covering his face standing behind her SUV.

She said she ran back inside her home and tried to lock the door, but he forced himself inside, leaving some cuts and bruises on her arm.

She said the man stole her jewelry, purse, and SUV. Deputies found the SUV a short time later in the parking lot of a Winn Dixie less than a mile from her home.

"It scared me almost to death. It really did, and I'm still scared," said the victim.

Deputies released surveillance video of the man in the checkout line of a grocery store, and Haberlin was later arrested.
