Lake Mary doctor charged in fatal hit-and-run crash

Kevin Wynne arrested on leaving scene of crash charges

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol troopers have arrested a Lake Mary doctor on Thursday in a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred two months ago.

Kevin Wynne, 43, a Lake Mary chiropractor, was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving death after troopers say he ran into the back of a motorcyclist a on State Road 415 on Feb. 26.

The motorcyclist, 50-year-old Sabra Vocaturo, flew off of her bike into the northbound lanes of SR 415 and was hit by two other vehicles, troopers said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers said Wynne continued driving on S.R. 415 after the crash, according to the FHP. Vocaturo's lawyers contacted authorities on Feb. 27 to notify them that Wynne's vehicle, an Infinti QX-56 SUV, was abandoned in a Save-A-Lot parking lot off of Howland Boulevard. Troopers said Wynne then called a friend for a ride.

Troopers said they tested the damage on Wynne's car and found it consistent with the investigation results of the crash, which led to Wynne's arrest on Thursday.

Wynne was been booked into the Seminole County Jail on $50,000 bond. He was released Thursday afternoon.
Vocaturo's husband, Anthony, hasn't commented on the arrest Thursday, but did post on his Facebook page last month that there was "progress being made and to keep her in your prayers."

It's not clear why Wynne left the scene. Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Kim Montes says investigators will never know if Wynne was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash. However, Montes says there are typically four main reasons why people flee the scene of a crash including not having a driver's license, not having insurance, having a warrant out for an arrest or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol. She says in this case, Wynne had a valid driver's license, insurance and did not have any warrants for his arrest.

He wouldn't comment as he walked out of the jail on Thursday.

Local 6 interviewed Dr. Wynne at his Lake Mary office back in 2010 when Wynne was sending care packages to troops overseas.
He's been featured in the Orlando Magazine and on his own website, he's promotes the "big roll he's played in aiding auto accident victims and their road to recovery."
