Suspects in Winter Park teen slayings plead not guilty

Jesse Davis, Hector Rodriguez appear at arraignment

ORLANDO, Fla. – The two suspects indicted on first-degree murder charges in the deaths of two Winter Park High School students pleaded not guilty at their arraignment on Monday.

Jesse Brandon Davis, 30, and Hector Manuel Rodriguez, 31, are charged with shooting Nicholas Presha, 16, and Jeremy Stewart, 18, to death and then setting their bodies on fire.

The bodies of the teens were found burning by two bicyclists around 6:40 a.m. on April 15 just off Cady Way Trail near Full Sail University.

Davis and Rodriguez pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of kidnapping with intent to commit a felony. They are expected to appear in court next week.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said that Presha and Stewart met with the men with the intention of selling them two stolen handguns. Deputies said Davis and Rodriguez planned to rob the teens, but killed them.
