ORLANDO, Fla. – Former boxer Hector "Macho" Camacho appeared in court Tuesday after he was charged with child abuse.
Camacho, a former lightweight boxing champion, is accused of slamming his teenage son to the ground and stomping on him several times. Prosecutors said Camacho also contacted his 13-year-old son after he was arrested and told not to.
"He said, 'When you see Tyler, let him know that I love him and that I want to speak to him,'" said Christian Camacho, his older son.
Camacho then insulted his 19-year-old son who was on the stand before the judge told him to be quiet.
Camacho's ex-wife also took the stand, testifying that during an argument, Hector Camacho became so angry that she grabbed a knife.
"When my son told me that his father hit him and he was banging on my door, I went to the kitchen and I got a knife to protect myself and my children because he is abusive," said Amy Camacho.
Camacho never testified. He told Local 6 that his wife simply wants money.
The judge decided Camacho wouldn't have to return to jail, but did warn the boxer to not have any more contact with his son.
