ORLANDO, Fla. – A new consumer survey shows one in five shoppers made their most recent purchases after seeing the product image on Pinterest.
The big winners, according to Bizrate Insights, are Etsy.com, branded stores and small boutiques.

Bizrate Vice President Hayley Silver says "image-sharing sites" have prompted a buying trend that "will likely grow" as more categories/images/brands/retailers become available on websites.
Silver is convinced smaller retailers "appear to be leading the charge on Internet sites, like Pinterest."
The latest survey is based on data collected from 20,362 online buyers from May 8 through May 30, 2012. E-commerce shoppers making purchases from more than 5,000 retailers in the United States and Canada were included.
Silver says it is not surprising that today these retailers are in the spotlight.
"It will be interesting to see how the dynamic changes as larger retail brands begin to emulate or improve upon customer engagement in the new medium," Silver said.
